Apples I Have Eaten, by Jonathan Gerken
Jonathan Gerken chronicles 47 different varieties of apple gathered one autumn in California. Each apple was locally sourced, photographed and then eaten by Gerken - and he made an effort to find those apples not readily available in shops, like the Goldrush, Prarie Spry and Hidden Rose (good names).

This reminds me that it's nearly apple season. I cannot wait.

  1. I really like this! I sometimes imagine that in my alternate life as a folk musician (which I am not) I'd name each of my albums after a different variety of apple, they're all so ace. I too would be useless in the apocalypse.. nice glasses!

  2. Ooh good alternate life plan (I'm a sculptor in mine), there are about five gazillion varieties of apple so you'd have a lot of choice.... or a lot of albums. Though maybe ones like 'Granny Smith' are less appealing.

I got far too excited when I found a website listing different apple kinds: http://www.orangepippin.com/varietyindex.aspx

    - best entry is 'Yellow Ingestrie apple. An attractive old yellow apple, with quite a strong apple flavour'.
